"C'mon Olympians it's bedtime, time to go to your anti fuck beds!"

freckledsweetpea

wtf is the "weight of one person"?

they're acting like some of the athletes aren't 95lbs and others 300lbs+

juani-de-molina

Yeah, you bring a good point. I know weighlifters and other fat athletes get treated like shit on the daily, but this is excessive

autisticshonenprotag

this is completely fake btw. these beds are intended to be recyclable and can hold up to 440lbs/200kg. there are no reputable outlets reporting on this “anti-sex” beds and the only ones that do are citing the tweet above. here’s another article disproving it like yes fat athletes get treated like shit and it’s important we talk about it but this whole anti sex bed thing is 100% untrue lol

“maybe the curtains are blue because the author just liked the color blue” set human critical thinking skills decades back

Honestly, I think most people who are against the whole “blue curtains represent the character’s depression or whatever” thing aren’t actually against the idea that things in a story can be more than literal, or against the idea of literary analysis. I think it’s actually the exact opposite, that they’re against being told what to think, and that unfortunately developed into a blanket dismissal of literary analysis.

Like, I remember when I was in school, despite German (I am German, btw) being one of my favorite subjects, I often felt like we weren’t really taught how to actually analyze texts. It felt more like the teacher (or whoever had written the curriculum) had a pre-approved interpretation, and that was the one we were being taught. Hell, I remember one time, we had an exam where we were supposed to interpret a poem. I can’t really remember what it was called, but it was about someone walking through an industrial district in winter, surrounded by large smokestacks. I compared the narrator’s breath visibly escape from their mouth to the smoke billowing out the stacks, and when we got the exam back, my teacher had underlined that part of my essay in red and literally just written “No.” in the margins, with no further explanations.

I’m not saying that all teachers do this, or that the teachers who do are doing so deliberately. I’m just saying that this impression can come across, and it can end up being detrimental to the students critical thinking skills, because since they weren’t really being encouraged/taught to actually use those skills to come to their own conclusions, but instead were rewarded for simply regurgitating the stuff their teacher told them, whether or not they shared that interpretation or it even made sense to them, they internalized the idea that anyone who, essentially, talks about literature or poetry “like a teacher” is just full of themselves.

it’s easy to forget, so I’ll remind y’all: you can make fantasy versions of anything. yes even things you might not think about. like soil types. I am thinking of fantasy soil types right now

This post is what got me to start feeling like I was ‘allowed’ to just start wholesale inventing species and I want to thank OP for this it has enriched my world-building so much.

This kinda reminds me of the time I thought to myself “but should I really put mechs in this setting (at least I think it was mechs)?” and right afterwards thinking “why the fuck not? this is literally my world, I make the rules, screw you”

i hate the misconception that millennials (and younger generations) don’t care about outdoor activities like hiking, gardening, etc, or nature as a whole, and that all they care about is their phones. so many young people have told me they wish they could do an activity they loved and enjoyed in their youth, but their schedule is packed and when they get home they’re exhausted (and for friends who work late, the sun has been down for hours). young people care, but young people are tired

Those spaces are also just less accessible. More and more natural spaces are becoming property, closed off to the public entirely or costing fees. Parks and other similar public spaces have become outright hostile to people, especially disabled and elderly people, through hostile architecture and "anti-loitering" measures.

I live in a hugely green area, and yet I don't feel safe exploring any of it because almost all the land here is private property and "trespassing" on it could get me fined, arrested, or killed by a trigger-happy asshole with a shotgun.

The world we live in was not designed for us.
